In a constantly changing business landscape, the TD function is a critical business partner in preparing an organization for the future of work. Every day, TD professionals are challenged to ensure their organization’s employees have the right skills for the changing needs of the organization. Key findings include:

  • TD professionals anticipate future TD skills gaps in professional, organizational, and personal domains in the next five years. Some of those skills include evaluating impact, future readiness, and collaboration and leadership.

  • More than half of organizations have had discussions about future TD skills gaps. However, only 36% have developed a plan to address these skills gaps.

  • Training and self-guided education are the two most popular types of learning activities TD professionals use to keep their skills up to date.

  • 69% of TD professionals think they will need to have a higher level of competency in AI in five years than they do today.
