Learning & Development Trends in India is a collaborative study between the Association for Talent Development (ATD) and Harvard Business Publishing (HBP). The two groups utilized research tools based on the annual ATD State of the Industry report to study the results of 56 organizations that completed the survey conducted in 2014. The research aims to take the pulse of learning and development practices in India and allows organizations to benchmark their learning and development programs. This report, while titled Learning & Development Trends in India, 2014, is composed of organizational data from the 2013 fiscal, or calendar, year. This is the report’s second year of publication, so many of the responding organizations were different from the 2012 report.
On average, responding organizations employ 20,360 people. Forty-two of the responding companies are headquartered in India, five in the United States, three in the United Kingdom, two in Switzerland; and one each in Ireland, Canada, Israel, and France. The average spent on training and development per employee in 2013 was Rs 13,767 ($234.04).
In addition to direct learning expenses, responding organizations provided various other data points such as, number of learning hours provided, number of professionals on staff, profit, revenue, and amount spent on external learning services.
