A. Keith Barnes served as the S. V. Hunsaker Professor of Management at the University of Redlands in Southern California from 1984 to 1999, where he won awards for teaching and service. He authored the academic book Management Maturity: Prerequisite to Total Quality Management and more than 60 articles and monographs on a wide variety of business subjects. He holds a doctorate in organizational management and an MBA, both from Pepperdine University. His undergraduate work was completed in England (mechanical engineering) and in Canada (psychology). Before becoming an academic, he was a senior executive with the J. I. Case Company, which was then a part of the Fortune 500 Company Tenneco.

Dr. Nelson Soken is CEO of N.H. At N.H.Soken Consulting, he assists client companies in developing their innovation and design thinking strategies and competencies through innovation program and strategy development and inspirational presentations. He has conducted innovation and strategic thinking training across the United States, Europe, and Canada for Fortune 500 companies, including IBM, Abbott Labs, Texas Instruments, Honeywell, Citibank, New York Life Insurance, Yahoo, and the Hass Business School at UC Berkeley. Currently, Dr. Soken a usability consultant for Andamio Games on the iNeuron project, which is funded by NIH and CytoAssist (funded by NSF), to create STEM games for high school students. Dr. Soken also has been a consultant in the healthcare industry, including medical device companies. Formerly, at Medtronic he used his science and engineering background, coupled with excellent communication and networking skills, to create and drive a patient-centric strategy that changed the corporate mindset about how to approach and gather research data in emerging markets. In addition, at the Mayo Clinic’s Center for Innovation, he developed an innovation curriculum that immersed healthcare professionals in innovation and design thinking with the goal of equipping healthcare professionals with mindset and skills to better serve patients. Dr. Soken co-authored Lead the Pack: Sparking Innovation That Drives Customers Wild, a book on the psychology of innovation.

B. Kim Barnes, CEO of Barnes & Conti Associates, Inc., of Berkeley, California, has over 30 years of global experience in leadership and organization development. A frequent speaker at professional conferences, Kim has published many articles in professional journals and books and is the developer or co-developer of popular Barnes & Conti programs such as Exercising Influence, Intelligent Risk-taking, Managing Innovation, and Consulting on the Inside.Her books include Exercising Influence: A Guide for Making Things Happen at Work, at Home, and in Your Community (Wiley, 2006; 3rd edition, 2015) and, with Beverly Scott, Consulting on the Inside: A Practical Guide for Internal Consultants (ATD Press, 2011). After completing this book, Kim was inspired to begin writing a tongue-in-cheek corporate mystery series with an internal OD consultant as the protagonist. The first book, Murder on the 33rd Floor, was published in 2012 and the second, Murder on Retreat, was published in 2014. Kim has also co-authored, with Aviad Goz, S_elf-Navigation: A Compass for Guiding your Life and Career_ (Johari Press, 2013). Her most recent book is Building Better Ideas: How Constructive Debate Inspires Courage, Collaboration, and Breakthrough Solutions (Berrett-Koehler Publishing, 2019).
